I’m waiting to find out through genetic testing. Lately, I thought I had Nordic blood on my Mother’s side especially. I was surprised to see that on my father’s side it was even more precise and strong than my mother’s. At the same time, when I look at family genetics…. On both sides, the women are strong, the men very tall and strong as well. The character is so intense that it would not surprise me that we have several looters, see bandits and immoral people in our ancestors… Fortunately, times change… Although! :P

Hi, I have haplogroup R-BY39347. Genetic research of one of the Vikings in Oland shows that he has the same haplogroup. Would that mean he is a distant ancestor of mine ? Greetings from Belgium, Johnny Couck.

I can only find out about my Maternal haplogroup with the testing I have. Your maternal haplogroup is I1a1. Does that mean I have viking ancestry?

In reply to Jeff Cedar. I have Y-DNA FGC17581 which is a subclade of L813. Have high match with vikings in mytrueancestry.com including individuals St.Brice massacre. Strong match with ADNA individuals on Iceland, also match with their decendants in Automosal DNA on MH.

I’m adopted and in my 56 yrs have never known where I come from. Just got results from FamilyTreeDNA, did an entry level family origins test to start.
I came across this post and saw the 9 subclades for possible viking ancestry, and to my surprise I have 7 of the 9 listed.
My question for anyone out there is, does this show I very well might have viking ancestry? If I actually do, I would definitely upgrade the testing to further explore it.
